Complexities of International Business Transactions The complexities of creating a contract between two parties (or among three or more parties) is nearly always complicated as each side negotiates for what it considers to be the best deal that it can get while not at the same time provoking the other party to back out of the deal. Epic Poetry and Beowulf Essay Example For Students

Epic Poetry and Beowulf Essay Beowulf Is an epic poem with various themes and is in Anglo-Saxon literature. It may be a more complicated poem compared to our modern epics. But with the latest translation or version, one can understand the themes of Beowulf and its meanings. Not only does Beowulf include various themes, but it also includes several kinds of styles and writing techniques such as; epithets, litotes, kennings, etc. These techniques and themes make Beowulf an epic poem, meaning that It had a great impact on the culture and showed the heroines of Beowulf. There are several themes in Beowulf, but the most notable themes are; bravery, revenge, and violence. In the epic, Beowulf shows a lot of courage and bravery defeating monsters at a young age, thus Increasing his reputation and the visiting to Hero. Revenge Is displayed on both sides of the epic, meaning that Beowulf seeks revenge as much as a monster seeks revenge against Beowulf. The last theme is violence. Being a heroic epic, of course you will read lots of violence, gore, and Imagery. The way Beowulf shows bravery, is by being a young man who travels to Hero, because the people are In need of a brave person to slay Greened, a monster. For example, Yet the prince of the rings was too proud to line up with a large army against the sky plague. He had scant regard for the dragon as a threat, no dread at all of its courage or strength, for he had kept going often in the past, through perils and ordeals of every sort, after he had purged Hoarders hall, triumphed In Horror and beaten Greened (2345-2353). Beowulf shows his bravery even 50 years after his encounter with Grenades mom. He is completely unafraid of the dragon and chooses to fight without an army, one-on-one, the way he fought Greened and his mother in his earlier years. Revenge is also a big theme In Beowulf. Wise sir, do not grieve. It Is always better to avenge dear ones than to Indulge In mourning. For every one of us, living in this world means waiting for our end. Let whoever can win glory before death. When a warrior is gone, that will be his best and only bulwark (1384-1389). This shows vengeance since Grenades mother sought revenge since her son was murdered. Now she had surprised and attacked men, and that is when Beowulf wanted to seek his revenge on Grenades mother. Violence plays a major role in this epic too. When a chance came, he caught the hero in a rush of flame and clamped sharp fangs into his neck. Beowulf body ran wet with his life-blood: It came welling out (2690-2693). This quote Is one of many violence scenes that show how brutal the fights were between Beowulf and all three monsters. Together, these three themes make up the majority of the themes portrayed in Beowulf. Not only are there several themes in Beowulf, but the unknown author also used various styles such as; kennings and epithets. There are much more styles In this Anglo-Saxon literature, but the most viewed or read are, the epithets and kennings. Examples of kennings include; Shield- Bearers (1402), War-gear (1442), Fine- webbed mail (1443). These are only a few of many examples of kennings in Beowulf. The reason they are kennings, Is because these description are used to describe things or Just simply name something. Like Shield; Bearers, means the warriors, soldiers, or men. The author calls them shield bearers because he or she used a 1 OFF the soldiers armor and so does Fine-webbed mail but it can also mean their chain mail. Another style of writing used in Beowulf, is epithets. Epithets are used to give a description or to characterize someone or something. Such as ring-giver (1 101), sea-lanes (1 156), God-cursed brute (121). These examples of epithets are used to characterize certain things. Like thering-giver is used to characterize the king. Sea- lanes translates to the ocean. Lastly, God-cursed brute is used to characterize or describe Greened, the monster that Beowulf kills. This technique helps the author by using more words to Just simply describe one word, name, or object. This helps the authors literature. Kennings are another style that helps the author. It is another form that is used to describe one word, name, or object by using two or more words. Overall these few out of many t echniques or styles helps the authors literature and heir word choice makes the epic poem better. .u3063a9a4345e1ad0ec44dcbd0c6ed1e0 , .u3063a9a4345e1ad0ec44dcbd0c6ed1e0 .postImageUrl , .u3063a9a4345e1ad0ec44dcbd0c6ed1e0 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u3063a9a4345e1ad0ec44dcbd0c6ed1e0 , .u3063a9a4345e1ad0ec44dcbd0c6ed1e0:hover , .u3063a9a4345e1ad0ec44dcbd0c6ed1e0:visited , .u3063a9a4345e1ad0ec44dcbd0c6ed1e0:active { border:0!important; } .u3063a9a4345e1ad0ec44dcbd0c6ed1e0 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u3063a9a4345e1ad0ec44dcbd0c6ed1e0 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u3063a9a4345e1ad0ec44dcbd0c6ed1e0:active , .u3063a9a4345e1ad0ec44dcbd0c6ed1e0:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u3063a9a4345e1ad0ec44dcbd0c6ed1e0 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u3063a9a4345e1ad0ec44dcbd0c6ed1e0 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u3063a9a4345e1ad0ec44dcbd0c6ed1e0 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u3063a9a4345e1ad0ec44dcbd0c6ed1e0 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u3063a9a4345e1ad0ec44dcbd0c6ed1e0:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u3063a9a4345e1ad0ec44dcbd0c6ed1e0 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u3063a9a4345e1ad0ec44dcbd0c6ed1e0 .u3063a9a4345e1ad0ec44dcbd0c6ed1e0-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u3063a9a4345e1ad0ec44dcbd0c6ed1e0:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Dead Poets Society: The Influence Of Transcendental Thinking EssayWith the help of various themes and styles, Beowulf proves to be an epic poem. Conflict Management and Industrial Relations

Question: Discuss about the Conflict Management and Industrial Relations. Answer: Introduction: Conflict is such thing that is unavoidable at the workplace and this is because of the difference in workplace goals and due to the personal style. The resolution of conflict becomes very important component of workplace and the people in the leadership position needs to possess the skill in the technique of conflict resolution techniques (Adan Pkalya, 2014). The case study discusses about the conflict between the two people in a leadership position who are involved in a project. They are faced with the simultaneous conflicts at the workplace. Concept and understanding of conflict and its impact on organizational outcome As far as the two Fatima and Ahmed are concerned, the two have conflicts of management. The two are though sharing a project leadership; they are also have difference of priorities, because both the parties are having something to complain against each other. We have seen that Fatima complained of him, Ahmed himself becoming the boss and representing him as the leader of the entire project, which disappoints Fatima, as she feels left out of the leadership of the project, Fatima had complained of Ahmed not taking his consent in the decision regarding the project and others. She feels like she is working under him, which she is unwilling to do and she has complained of Ahmed treating him just as some other employee (Bomers Peterson, 2013). Similarly Ahmed has his complains which defends him. He says that Fatima is not equally responsible ad she does not contribute the same determination as she should be giving and she does not pay the much attention to the work going on in the project . Consequently he has to keep her informed about the whereabouts of the projects , the timings of the meetings and others ,he complains that she herself is responsible for lagging behind as a project leader ,rather he keeps her updated about the project details. Ahmed is of view that there is nothing to shout out so much and there is no need to feel left out with the feelings of power and titles. The types of conflict that existing between the two is the interpersonal conflict as the conflict is occurring due to differences in the nature of two individual and this type of conflict can prove to be destructive. The conflict is the result of personality clash between Fatima and Ahmed. They have widely different attitude and characteristics and the aim of one person is becoming inconsistent with the other. So ,all we can say is they have no mutual consent as the one busy in something else and the other feels being overpowered ,there are differences of opinions in between the two . They are suffering from simultaneous conflicts, which will ultimately deteriorate the overall productivity of the group (Choi, 2013). Interpersonal intervention to handle challenging personalities at workplace As we know that for successful project, one must have equality in responsibilities, mutual decision-making, lesser difference of opinions. In this case, both Fatima and Ahmed have differences regarding their priorities and reduced attention and regard. While Fatima has complained of feeling working under Ahmed, the latter has complained of being irresponsible towards the project work, so it becomes of prime importance for both the parties to become equally responsible for the running of the project (Tjosvold et al., 2014). Therefore, both the parties must be equally participative in decision-making, they must be willing to work for the project betterment whenever the conditions arises, there must be mutual consent in every matter regarding the project. Conflict mainly arises due to difference of opinions in between the two parties. So ultimately, they should keep their differences aside for the betterment of the project, which may otherwise result in the failure of the project. Both of them must be equally participative in the decision making process and should work out on their differential issues and they should work for their conflict management. Thereby Fatima must be equally responsible and should feel lagging behind and also Ahmed should not try to rule over and get bossy and should not make her feel underpowered (Johnson, 2016). Conclusion: The conflict resolution techniques are so developed because that both Fatima and Ahmed resolve their conflict. They are suffering from simultaneous conflicts, which would deteriorate the productivity of the overall group. Only responsible, careful and dutiful people can make an effective group, so it becomes significant to be dutiful towards their work. Both Ahmed and Fatima should try to resolve the issues between them by mutually understanding their responsibilities towards the project and space, authority to each other. Project and may even consequently result in project failure because for a successful project mutual consent plays a vital role, so all they need to do is equally active in participation be responsible and keep in mind that mutual consent and mutual decision is very necessary.
